McPherson County was the least populous with 399, followed by Blaine (431) and Arthur (434).
Largest and smallest counties
Cherry County, on the South Dakota border in the Sandhills, is by far the largest at 5,960.2 sq mi of land, 2.3 times the size of the runner-up, Custer County (2,575.6 sq mi), followed by Lincoln County (2,564.1 sq mi).
The smallest counties are in the east: Sarpy County (238.1 sq mi), Dakota County (264.3 sq mi) and Douglas County (326.4 sq mi). Sarpy County and Douglas County are also two of the three most populous.
